Groupe Bull SA: France’s government-owned computer maker, which has extensive U.S. operations based in Boston, reported a steep loss of $1.2 billion (6.79 billion francs) for 1990, compared to a loss of $46.8 million (267 million francs) in 1989. Much of the loss was attributed to the cost of a radical restructuring by the world’s ninth-largest computer maker. The company took a $635-million charge (3.62 billion francs) for the restructuring. The Paris-based firm cited fierce competition from Japanese and U.S. firms.
