National Medical Enterprises Inc.: The health-care services company posted income of $70.9 million for the third quarter ended Feb. 28, a 12% increase over the year-ago period. The Santa Monica-based firm had revenue of $955.7 million, a 5% decrease. The company said finances were depressed by redemption of debt and the spinoff of domestic long-term care operations.

NME’s Earnings--National Medical Enterprises’ profit for the quarter ended Feb. 28, which reached a record $70.9 million, was only slightly reduced by a charge associated with debt reduction. An item in Thursday’s earnings roundup suggested that the reduced debt had a significant impact on income.
