Cerritos : Work to Begin in May on Shoemaker Avenue Bridge
- Share via
Construction of the Shoemaker Avenue overpass on the Artesia (91) Freeway is set to begin in mid-May. The Cerritos City Council has approved engineering contracts for the $4.9-million project that will take about a year to complete.
The city will receive $1.5 million from the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission to help pay for the project. The city also will receive about $700,000 from state transportation programs, said Jeanette Pack, the consultant hired by the city to manage the construction project.
The overpass will connect the two legs of Shoemaker Avenue separated by the freeway. The off-ramp and on-ramp on the south side that lead in and out of the Towne Center redevelopment area are already in place.
