Airport Passengers Can Check Bags at Curb

Beginning today, Burbank Airport passengers will be able to check their bags at the terminal curb for the first time since the outbreak of the Persian Gulf War.
The Federal Aviation Administration on Wednesday allowed the airport to lift a security restriction imposed Jan. 16 requiring passengers to check luggage at the ticket counter instead of with skycaps at the curb.
“It will make it a lot more convenient for passengers to use skycaps,” airport spokeswoman Elly Mixsell said.
However, other security measures will remain in effect until further notice, she said. Unattended cars will not be allowed to remain at the curb outside the terminal, and only ticketed passengers will be allowed past security checkpoints.
