USC Film Dean: Elizabeth Monk Daley will take over May 1 as dean of the USC School of Cinema-Television, the first woman in the country to be appointed dean of a film school. She succeeds Frantisek Daniel, who resigned last year but continues as a professor of screenwriting. Since joining the film school in 1989 as chairman of the film and television production program, Daley has worked with Viacom Pictures and NHK to develop projects involving HDTV (high definition television) and interactive technologies. Before going to USC, she was director of Taper Media Enterprises and a producer for MGM/UA Television. Daley has an active slate of projects with her own production company and is married to James Hindman, deputy director of the American Film Institute.
