My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this year’s telecast of the Academy Awards on ABC. It is the first one in years that we watched to the conclusion. The dance numbers were outstanding, host Billy Crystal was terrific and the presentations were handled smoothly. The only bad portion was the “Dick Tracy” number sung by Madonna, which was crude and poorly done.

It was therefore a shock to read Rick Du Brow’s Calendar review of the program in which he criticized almost every aspect of the show. I’d hate to be so jaded.

By contrast, Howard Rosenberg’s comments are always thoughtful and accurate. I don’t always agree with him, but I respect his views. I certainly can’t say the same for Du Brow.
