VENTURA : Child Hit by Car Is in Critical Condition

A child who was hit by a car at the intersection of Telephone Road and Cachuma Avenue was in critical condition Thursday night, officials said.
The Ventura Police Department confirmed that there was an accident at 6:55 p.m. but had no further details. A spokeswoman for the Ventura County Medical Center said a child hit at the intersection was in critical condition.
A local store clerk said witnesses reported that a boy, about 8 years old, ran across Telephone Road in front of a small sedan traveling about 50 m.p.h.
They said the car knocked the boy about 200 feet into the opposite lane.
