America West Realigns Service: America West Airlines announced route changes designed to strengthen its system and return the airline to profitability. Effective Sept. 7, the airline plans to eliminate service to the following airports: Bakersfield, Palmdale, Santa Barbara, the Grand Canyon, LaGuardia and Edmonton, Alberta. Among cities due for added service are St. Louis, Atlanta and Las Vegas.
