TAXING CHANGES: Here’s bad news for Orange County’s anti-tax stalwarts--the state sales tax goes up an extra 1.25% Monday. A business that fails to hike the rate to 7.75% is still liable for the extra money, says the Board of Equalization. . . . Orange County should generate $2.23 billion a year with the new rate, OKd by the Legislature to help balance the state’s teetering budget.
