Judge Halts Cash Withdrawals From Insurer: Superior Court Judge Arthur Lesemann halted cash withdrawals from New Jersey Life Insurance Co. and told the company to stop writing new policies as state regulators moved for the second time in weeks to take over a troubled insurer. Lesemann denied the state insurance department’s request to seize the Paramus, N.J.-based company, which it says is insolvent, but scheduled a trial for late August.
