Blue Jay Manager Cito Gaston, 47, was admitted to a Toronto hospital because of an inflamed sciatic nerve and a herniated disk. Batting coach Gene Tenace will assume the managerial duties until Gaston returns, the team said.
“He’ll have bed rest for at least a week,” club spokesman Howard Starkman said before Toronto’s game with the Brewers.
