The Times should have made clear in the Sept. 4 article (“Hubbard Defense Hires Ex-Officer Investigated in Corruption Probe”) that I was not commenting on the facts of the Hubbard case. This could have been achieved by saying “Milton J. Silverman, although declining on the specifics of the Hubbard case, said that generally . . .”
