DUMPED: The Angels released Dave Parker on Saturday, one day after the club announced it had hired Whitey Herzog as the club’s senior VP and director of player personnel (C1). . . . But Parker’s release was in the works before Herzog was brought in and was orchestrated by new manager Buck Rodgers. Parker, a veteran slugger, hit just .232 in 119 games as an Angel designated hitter. He homered in his first Angel at-bat April 9 at Seattle, but ended his year with a single Tuesday at Boston.
