COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : OCC Takes Home Title in Water Polo Meet

Orange Coast College won the San Diego Mesa Water Polo Tournament, winning three consecutive games Saturday at San Diego Mesa College.
Although OCC did not play every team in the six-team tournament, the Pirates were declared tournament champion on a system of goal differential and record against common opponents.
Ian Condon had three goals in OCC’s 11-7 victory over San Diego Mesa in the tournament opener. Goalie Erik Terwilliger had 15 saves in OCC’s 10-7 victory over Grossmont in the second game.
OCC defeated Palomar, 15-5, in the third game to clinch the title with Mark Campagna and Rob Worthing each scoring three goals in the final game. Campagna led the team with six goals in the tournament.
In nonconference men’s water polo:
Mt. San Antonio 12, Rancho Santiago 7--Derek McCord had two goals and Majid Ahmadi had 13 saves for visiting Rancho Santiago (1-1).
In nonconference men’s soccer:
Golden West 4, Citrus 0--Shahin Gandomi and Fred McCollum each scored two goals for host Golden West (1-2). Clint Larson had four saves in his first shutout of the year for Golden West.
