Senor Speedy Wins Highweight

NEW YORK — Senor Speedy closed strongly on the rail to gain the lead in deep stretch and then drew away with 131 pounds and jockey Jorge Chavez to score a 2 1/2-length victory in Belmont Park’s $118,200 Grade II Fall Highweight Handicap for horses three and up.
Sunshine Jimmy, who raced coupled in the wagering with For Really, was runner-up in the eight horse field, 1 1/4 lengths ahead of Diablo.
Senor Speedy, who narrowly missed overtaking Housebuster in Saratoga’s Forego Handicap in his previous start Aug. 25, earned $70,920 for his first victory in 11 races this year. He finished in 1:08:3 and returned $10.20, $4.80 and $2.80.
The Sunshine Jimmy entry paid $2.80 and $2.40 and Diablo was $2.80.
