Granada Hills High took a short-lived lead in the first quarter but was no match for Washington as the Highlanders dropped their season-opening game, 42-24, Friday night at Granada Hills.
Granada Hills took a 7-0 lead on a 27-yard scoring pass from Edgar Vasquez to Raheem Kyle, but Washington roared back with 20 consecutive points to put the game out of reach.
Kyle was the leading rusher for Granada Hills with 35 yards in 10 carries. Washington outgained Granada Hills, 368-145.
