Gunman Sought in String of Supermarket Robberies

Police are searching for an unidentified gunman who has been linked to at least 11 supermarket robberies in the west San Gabriel Valley since late June, authorities said Friday.
Pasadena Police Lt. Van Anthony said that, based on descriptions of the robber and his tactics, investigators believe the same man has held up eight Pasadena markets and several others in Arcadia, San Marino and Highland Park over the three-month period.
In each case, the robber entered a store in the late afternoon or early evening. Anthony said the casually dressed man quietly approached cashiers, displayed a handgun and demanded that a bag be filled with money.
No one has been hurt in any of the holdups, which usually resulted in a loss of about $1,000, the police official said.
