Two alleged gang members were charged Friday with murder in the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old boy who was walking home from school.
Joaquin Alvarado, 19, and Rene Jimenez, 18, pleaded not guilty to murder in the death Monday of Mario Raymond Martinez. Police said the boy was not affiliated with a gang, but was an innocent victim of shots fired at a slow-moving car carrying six young men.
Alvarado and Jimenez, who are being held without bail, are also charged with six counts of attempted murder for allegedly firing at the car.
