Fountain Valley Can’t Stop Beckas, Long Beach Wilson

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Spiro Beckas scored two touchdowns in a 32-second span of the third quarter to propel Long Beach Wilson to an 18-6 nonleague victory over Fountain Valley Friday night.
Beckas, who finished with a game-high 130 yards rushing, scored his first touchdown on a 75-yard run with 5 minutes 44 seconds left in the third quarter. Fountain Valley’s Chris Booth then fumbled the ensuing kickoff at the 20-yard line and Wilson recovered.
After a Brady Dunn pass fell incomplete, Beckas burst through the Fountain Valley defense for a 20-yard score, giving the Bruins an 18-point lead.
Wilson (2-1) scored first late in the second quarter on an 85-yard touchdown run by wingback Frank Russell. Fountain Valley (0-2-1) scored its only touchdown with 4:15 left in the game on a three-yard run by Ryan Bertoni. The score was set up by a 72-yard pass from Bertoni to Mark Ziemke.
Wilson was able to rack up 286 yards of total offense despite being penalized 10 times for 110 yards.
