Mack Calvin, a former USC standout who spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks, is expected to be named to the same position with the Clippers.
A product of Long Beach Poly High and Long Beach City College, Calvin was a five-time All-American Basketball Assn. selection who also played with the Lakers and three other NBA teams in a career that spanned 1969-81. He holds ABA records for most free throws attempted and made.
He replaces Alvin Gentry, who left the Clippers to become an assistant coach with the Miami Heat.
