After Van Nuys High rallied to score 20 fourth-quarter points, a bench-clearing brawl with 3 minutes 3 seconds left forced officials to halt the contest and award the Wolves a 20-10 victory over Canoga Park in a Mid-Valley League game Friday night at Van Nuys.
The brawl began after quarterback-safety Bill Calhoun of Van Nuys taunted and then punched Canoga Park’s Adam Ferris. Players from both teams quickly joined the fracas, and officials ejected Calhoun and immediately halted the contest.
Coaches and administrators from both schools rushed onto the field and stopped the fighting after three minutes. No injuries were reported.
The brawl began a minute after Van Nuys linebacker Harold Boudreaux intercepted a Ferris pass and returned it 33 yards for a touchdown and the final points of the game.
