Sierra Madre : Hillside Zoning Approved

The City Council last week adopted the wording of a hillside management ordinance, but postponed final approval of the boundaries it will cover.
The ordinance, which takes effect immediately, creates a hillside zone with standards relating to views, slope stability, earthquake hazards, water supplies and environmental protection.
City Administrator Jim McRea said the Planning Commission will hold a hearing to reconcile its proposed boundary line for the zone and a slightly different one created by the Hillside Task Force.
