Alhambra : Warning on Aerosol ‘High’

Police are warning about a new, potentially fatal way to get high: inhaling an aerosol spray product used to remove dust.
Officials said the product, commonly used to dust office equipment such as computers and printers, contains a dangerously high concentration of chlorodifluoromethane, which can cause heart irregularities, unconsciousness or death.
Alhambra Sgt. Judy Pohl said police received reports that some San Gabriel High School students were bringing the product to campus and selling hits to their peers. Pohl said the brand name of the product most often used is Dust Off XL.
A school official confirmed that one aerosol can had been confiscated from a student who said his cousin inhaled the aerosol.
A narcotics expert in the Sheriff’s Department said he had not received any similar reports.
