OUTLOOK
First-year coach Kempf takes over for Gordon Bredow at helm of Lancers, who finished tied for second last season. With a strong core of seniors, Kempf hopes he can find enough talented newcomers to challenge Valley Christian and Whittier Christian. As it is, the Lancers appear to be a good bet to assume the league’s dark-horse role. The Lancers have good height returning in Pearson and Shulz and should be very competitive on the backboards. Returning starters Stephens and Cole bring experience and leadership to the backcourt. Kempf thinks good work ethic and attitude should help make Lancers very competitive. The Lancers will try to keep their opposition off stride with a variety of man-to-man and zone defensive arrays.
