THOUSAND OAKS : Man’s Hand Slashed in Traffic Dispute

A 25-year-old Thousand Oaks man was slashed in the hand with a knife during a traffic confrontation in Westlake, authorities said Sunday.

Christopher Rotunno was treated and released from Westlake Medical Center on Saturday night, authorities said.

Rotunno was driving home about 9 p.m. in the area of Triunfo Canyon and Hampshire roads when he got into an argument with a passenger in another car, Ventura County Sheriff’s Lt. Kelli McIlvain said.

McIlvain said it was unclear what they were arguing about. Rotunno did not know the driver or passenger of the other car, she said, and neither car was damaged before or during the altercation.

During the argument, the assailant drew a knife and slashed at Rotunno, McIlvain said. The suspects then fled and Rotunno drove himself to the hospital.

Authorities have no suspects in the attack, McIlvain said. “Most people don’t use a knife,” she said. “Most of them just do the decent thing and flip each other off.”
