A 19-year-old Newbury Park man was fired upon in a drive-by shooting early Sunday morning but was uninjured, authorities said.
About 12:40 a.m., George Lozano was walking toward his car after leaving his girlfriend’s house in the 1200 block of Mountain View Road in Newbury Park when a pickup truck stopped on the street, Ventura County Sheriff’s Lt. Kelli McIlvain said.
One of the three people in the truck yelled a gang-related remark and then Lozano heard a gunshot, McIlvain said. The bullet shattered the driver’s window of Lozano’s car, but he was not injured, McIlvain said.
McIlvain said she did not know what kind of gang remark was shouted, and authorities have no suspects. Lozano claims no gang affiliation and could give no reason for the shooting, McIlvain said.
