Cash, Toy Donations Sought for Christmas
Officers in the Los Angeles Police Department’s Foothill Division are seeking donations for their annual Christmas basket program, in which they deliver baskets filled with food, clothes and toys to needy families.
Last year, officers who patrol the northeastern San Fernando Valley delivered more than 600 baskets and hope to top that number this year, Sgt. Pete Weinhold said.
Each basket is tailored to meet the needs of families whose names are provided by area churches and civic groups, he said.
About $8,000 is needed to buy all the items, with about $5,000 raised so far, Weinhold said.
The baskets are delivered between Dec. 19 and 22.
Donations of cash and new toys can be made by calling (818) 989-8866.
