Covina : Raise for Part-Timers
The city’s 150 part-time employees will receive 4% cost-of-living raises Jan. 1.
The City Council approved the increase Tuesday on a 4-0 vote, with Councilman Gary Coffey absent.
Because most of the employees work for the Parks and Recreation Department, class fees will be used to offset some of the costs.
The action comes five months after the financially strapped city laid off 27 employees to balance the 1991-92 budget.
Part-time employees last received a 4% cost-of-living increase in July, 1990.
