Essay on Columbus Takes First Place

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy student Lisa Acevedo of Sun Valley has won the sixth annual essay contest sponsored by the consulate general of Spain, USC and the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Lisa, a junior at the La Canada Flintridge high school, won in the 10th- to 12th-grade category for her essay on the pros and cons of Christopher Columbus’ voyage to America and how the explorer should be remembered.
