Nation IN BRIEF : WASHINGTON, D.C. : Bush Signs Expanded Jobless Benefits Bill

President Bush signed legislation enlarging for some states the unemployment benefits that were expanded last month. The bill gives extra weeks of benefits to people in 23 states and adds about 200,000 jobless Americans to the expanded coverage. The most recent legislation gives all eligible people 13 extra weeks of benefits, instead of only six weeks that would have been extended to those in 23 states under the bill signed in November.
