Fairfax District : Melrose Shuttle Planned

A weekly shuttle bus service will allow shoppers to search for gifts along Melrose Avenue during the holidays without having to fight for hard-to-find parking spaces.
Starting this Saturday, the weekend shuttle service will make round-trip runs along Melrose every 15 minutes on weekends, from Fairfax Avenue east to La Brea Avenue, said Richard Jebejian, president of the Merchants on Melrose Assn., which lobbied city officials for the service.
The shuttle, which will cost 25 cents a ride, will run through Christmas, but may extend another week or so, Jebejian said. It will operate from 6 p.m. to midnight on Saturdays and from noon to 8 p.m. Sundays.
Free parking for the shuttle will be provided at Fairfax High School at the west end of the bus route. The shuttle is co-sponsored by the city Department of Transportation and Councilman Zev Yaroslavsky’s office.
