Northridge Eliminated in Volleyball Tournament

The Cal State Northridge women’s volleyball team won a pair of matches in pool play Friday, but the Matadors still failed to advance in the National Invitational Volleyball championships at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.
The Matadors (16-18) defeated Alabama Birmingham, 16-18, 15-13, 5-15, 15-8, 15-9, and later beat Wright State, the host school, 16-14, 15-2, 15-9.
Northridge, with a 3-1 record in the tournament, finished second in its pool to top-seeded Kentucky, which beat the Matadors in three games Thursday.
