Pneumonia-Related Ills Chief Killer of Children

GENEVA — Pneumonia and related respiratory infections have become the main cause of death among children under 5, killing 12,000 of them each day, a World Health Organization expert said Friday.
Dr. James Tulloch said at a news conference that children in developing countries are particularly vulnerable. About 4.3 million children in the Third World die from acute respiratory infections each year, he said.
