LAPD to Survey Residents on Officers’ Performance

As a part of its new community-based policing program, Los Angeles police officials will conduct a series of opinion surveys of San Fernando Valley residents to determine their attitudes toward police and their performance.
It is the first time the department will use surveys to gauge community opinions, said Deputy Chief Mark A. Kroeker. They come at a time when police are trying to reach out to the community in the wake of the police beating of Rodney G. King. The surveys will quiz a statistical sample of about 1,500 people.
