Two men were arrested and four weapons--including an illegal set of brass knuckles--were confiscated early Wednesday in the underground parking lot of a Dana Point hotel, police reported.
Glen Avery Spears, 26, of San Clemente and Michael Steven Raugi, 39, of Trabuco Canyon were arrested about 1:05 a.m. after a Sheriff’s Department deputy on routine patrol spotted Spears allegedly checking under the dashboard of a car parked in the lot. When Deputy Chris Cormier approached the car he saw several shotgun shells inside, according to the report.
Cormier searched under the hood of the car and found a sawed-off shotgun, a loaded .38-caliber handgun, a loaded .22-caliber rifle and a set of brass knuckles, according to the report. Spears was arrested on suspicion of possession of the brass knuckles and carrying the loaded firearms.
Spears’ companion, Raugi, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a hypodermic syringe when Deputy Cormier found the needle in his sock, according to the report.
Bail was set at $10,000 each and both men are due to be arraigned today in Municipal Court in Laguna Niguel.
