Escapee Who Shot Deputy Is Object of Police Hunt

MOUNTAIN CITY, Tenn. — Authorities from three states were searching for a man who escaped from the Johnson County jail Wednesday after he killed a deputy sheriff with a gun he took from another deputy. More than 100 officers, some using helicopters and others with dogs, were hunting for Charles William Saylor, 24, in a mountainous area of northeastern Tennessee.
