New Fish and Game Director Appointed

SACRAMENTO — Gov. Pete Wilson on Wednesday appointed Boyd H. Gibbons, an attorney and a senior editor of National Geographic Magazine since 1976, to direct the Department of Fish and Game, succeeding Peter F. Bontadelli.
At the same time, the governor appointed Bontadelli as administrator of the department’s newly created oil spill prevention and cleanup program, which the Legislature created in the wake of the Exxon tanker spill at Valdez, Alaska, in 1989.
