FOOTBALL PLAYOFF NOTES

Temperatures keep dropping, but Southern California Christian football Coach Bert Esposito still paces the sidelines in black shorts.
And he’s not about to wear long pants to his team’s Southern Section Division X championship game Saturday night against Arrowhead League rival Calvary Chapel at Santa Ana Stadium.
“There’s been only one game when I’ve worn pants,” Esposito said. “That was three years ago at Carpinteria during the playoffs. It was like 30 degrees. We got blown out.”
The Flames lost that opening-round game, 55-8. So don’t expect to see Esposito in long pants Saturday even if a monsoon hits.
