Hotel Terminus: The Life and Times of Klaus Barbie (Bravo Tuesday at 5 p.m.) To watch Marcel Ophuls’ mesmerizing, Oscar-winning 1988 documentary on the sadistic Gestapo chief Klaus Barbie, known as “The Butcher of Lyon,” is like seeing a great novel, a real-life detective story, coming alive on the screen.
The Royal Family of Broadway (Show Wednesday at 10 a.m.) George Cukor and Cyril Gardner co-directed this delightful 1930 film version of the Ferber-Kaufman play, which had a great deal of fun with the Barrymores.
Harlan County, U.S.A. (KCET Saturday at 10:50 p.m.) is Barbara Kopple’s thoroughly remarkable Oscar-winning documentary of a long and bloody Kentucky miners’ strike that cuts to the heart of a chronic national disgrace.
