During World War II we had a saying in Europe: “Who is to be blamed for this terrible war?” we asked. “The bicycle riders and the Jews, of course” was the answer. Why the bicycle riders and Jews? The age-old scapegoating never stops. In southern Lebanon Arabs torture their Arab brothers, and Cockburn blames Israel for it. Where is the logic here? What a twisted mind! What prejudice!
