Downey’s Downers: One-time king of trash TV Morton Downey Jr. says in an interview scheduled for tonight on CBS’ “48 Hours” that he used to sit in his bathroom and cry after abusing unsuspecting guests on his syndicated talk show. “After I had hurt someone who maybe didn’t quite realize they’d be hurt that badly by my lash-outs, I’d sit in my bathroom so Lori (his wife) wouldn’t hear me cry. Then I’d get it all out of my system and vow I’d never do it again, and go back and do it the next day.”
