5 Men Arrested After Irvine Home Robbery

IRVINE — Police arrested five men who allegedly broke into a home Thursday with guns and knives, tying up two people and robbing them of a bank card and and wallet.
The five men, whose identities were not immediately available, were arrested on suspicion of armed robbery and were still being questioned, said Sgt. Tim Smith. He said police would transfer the suspects to Orange County Jail.
The robbery occurred at 3:37 p.m. on Duane in the Northwood section of Irvine.
The robbers were seen leaving the house in a red Volkswagen Rabbit. Police stopped a similar car a little after 5 p.m. at 17th and Broadway in Santa Ana. All five people in the car were arrested.
