Pasadena : Holiday Food, Toys Needed
The Salvation Army Pasadena Tabernacle, which provides Christmas fixings for hundreds of needy families from the western San Gabriel Valley, is running short of groceries and toys because of increased demand, said business director John Jones.
The charitable organization expects to provide the makings of Christmas dinners for 1,450 families, averaging more than five members each. Last year, the organization did the same for 1,100 families.
Some of this year’s recipients were donors last year who have lost their jobs, Jones said.
“We’ve got turkeys and hams, but we’re desperately short of canned foods, especially vegetables,” Jones said.
The organization has also run out of toys suitable for infants, he said.
Donations can be left at 3100 New York Drive, Pasadena.
