Gov. Wilson’s Welfare Reforms

In response to “Governor’s Attack on Welfare Spending--Cruel or Wise?” Dec. 13:
In your serious, wide-ranging editorial I see much discussion about single mothers and the need for reform in the welfare program.
However, nowhere is there one indication of the fact that some male was present at the moment of conception and that he, as well as the mother, should be held accountable and “reformed.”
When are we going to seriously address the problem of holding males responsible for their sexual behavior and for bearing their share of the 18-year burden of the children they produce?
