The Rev. Jesse Jackson led about 1,000 marchers through downtown Detroit to protest state welfare cuts and vowed to take the campaign to Gov. John Engler’s door. “We will not stand idly by while people lose their jobs, lose their health care and lose their way,” Jackson said at a rally.
