NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY--For children 6 to 12 who should bring sleeping bags; sponsored by the Monterey Park Recreation and Parks Department; Barnes Park Community Center, 350 S. McPherrin Ave.; 5 p.m. Tuesday through 10 a.m. Wednesday ($15).
CELEBRATE--A New Year’s Eve celebration, patterned after New York City’s Times Square bash, will be held in Long Beach. Revelers will gather on Pine Avenue for continuous live music from a variety of bands. After 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, the street will be sealed off to cars between Ocean Boulevard and 3rd Street.
CLAREMONT--Claremont Heritage walking tour of the village area, historic Victorians and college and commercial buildings; from Sumitomo Bank, 102 Yale Ave.; 10 a.m. Saturday ($3).
NOSTALGIA--Nostalgia and Collectible Show and Sale; Pasadena Center, 300 E. Green St.; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday ($5).
SEGREGATION CHECK: The East Whittier City School District Monday will meet to hear the public’s comments on whether any district school is ethnically segregated or in danger of becoming so, 7 p.m. in the board room, 14535 E. Whittier Blvd., Whittier.
