It ain’t about race. It ain’t about talent. It’s about show biz and entertainment. And in that regard, Marsalis is way out of his element. It’s just the wrong band for the gig.
I must agree with Tom Shales’ observations. Even the theme song doesn’t feel right. Nothing personal, everything personnel.
