A man visiting his mother and sister in Normal Heights returned to their home early Saturday, bleeding from multiple stab wounds, from which he died a short time later at Mercy Hospital, police said.
The incident happened about 4 a.m., when San Diego Police officers were summoned to the 2800 block of Meade Avenue, where Steve Wilson Mitchell, 41, was visiting his mother and sister.
Mitchell had left the house, and when he returned after a short absence, he was bleeding from wounds to the upper body, homicide detectives said. Paramedics took him to Mercy Hospital, where he died in the emergency room.
Police believe the stabbing occurred in the same neighborhood but said no suspects have been identified and that they don’t know the motive. Homicide detectives said Mitchell was unemployed.
