* State Sen. Barry Keene (D-Ukiah) has been named president of the Assn. for California Tort Reform, a group advocating changes in the state’s civil justice system.
Keene, a member of the state Legislature for 20 years and Senate majority leader since 1985, announced his intention to retire earlier this week. Keene formerly served as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
