Public Ridership Needs Helping Hand

Re “This Bus Is Plain Crazy” (Oct. 25):
It’s ironic that the same week that Metrolink begins--and The Times’ coverage has been excellent--View prints a story that will do more for keeping people away from public transit than all the good stories combined favoring transit. Shame on you!
I’ve been riding the 204 at many points along Vermont Avenue three to four times a week for more than two years, and I have never been hassled or observed anything on the order that your story suggests.
We have clean-air standards to meet; we have community healing to do, and economic development to get on with--an agenda that will be much better served through use of public transit than by the ever-rising rate of private auto use spurred on by stories like “This Bus Is Plain Crazy.”
